It's 5:30am and we just got home. This is the second worst scenario I had with Lexah [after she overheat in Ortigas few months ago]. My hands are still shaking and my whole body is still trembling as of this writing.
Earlier this afternoon I had to rush to the bank to encash money. It's 15 minutes before three o'clock, bank's closing time. Luckily, I chanced upon a parking slot just outside our office building, along San Agustin St. in Makati. I just have to walk, around 800 meters, to the bank.
As far I know, nothing really went wrong that afternoon. As usual, I had my merienda, dinner, work, work, work, chat chat chat and eat eat eat. It's time to go home. I extended my stay in the office since i was late and I still need to turn over some workload to my colleague. It's my last day on Friday.
At the parking lot, I was shocked to see my park light lit. To think it was parked there for almost 10 hrs. [huhuhu] I could really hear my heartbeat. And I was not surprised that it won't start. The battery was drained and I don't know what to do! [waahhhh!!!!]. I had to call Mannix for the rescue. :'(
When they got there, they tried to changed the battery with the spare one but to no avail. It was only 2 am, so we decided to hire a taxi and have it pulled [since towing services cost a lot]. Although taxis were not allowed to tow especially in Makati, the taxi driver agreed to help us. Since Lexah is AT, we have to put her on neutral to pull her up and aided by the hand brake. I was on the steering wheel. I don't know what to do, but i had no choice. [I'm the one to blame anyway] When i manage to control the handbrake, I thought we're ok.
As we passed along Paseo de Roxas, MAPSA officials waved us to pull over and started listing down our violations. I am now in a panic mode and prayed that everything will be over soon. Thank God! He answered my prayer! A mobile police stopped. We thought it was MAPSA's backup and will add to our worries. We're glad it was our policeman neighbor roving around makati. He talked to the man in yellow uniform and they let us pass. Wew!!! Now we're good to go!
Next to my dilemma is not to bump onto the taxi's bumper and be able to release the brake. It was really hard, given that the road was a little bit dark, Lexa's battery is totaly exhausted. [We were able to use the fog light but only for a short time. So my only guide is the taxi's hazzard light.] The terrain along Bayani road were slightly sloped down. Glad, I manage to do that for two hours! with 5kph! wew!
In events like this, there are few lessons to learn:
1. Always check everything in your car before you leave. Lights. Lock. Wheels. [What else?]
2. Understand your car by heart so you would know when there's something wrong with her.
3. [Maybe] Try to learn some simple troubleshooting things.
4. And always have your celfone fully charged in case you need to call for help.
This is really a long day for me! :'(
